Sync the Schedule

Keep shifts, check-ins and opening hours the same in Skidle and another system, and choose which side you make changes in.

Syncing keeps your shifts, check-ins and opening hours the same in Skidle and another system, like Square. You choose where each one is managed. You make changes there, and the other side shows them.

To choose, click Schedule, then click Sync. Sync people first, so shifts and check-ins land on the right person. See Sync People, Roles and Locations.

Where the schedule is managed

  • Managed in the other system: Make changes there. The schedule in Skidle updates on its own and is read-only. People can still ask for cover and swaps in Skidle, and approved ones are sent back.
  • Managed in Skidle, sent to the other system: Make changes in Skidle. When you publish, shifts are sent there. Changes made there still come in: if a shift is moved or deleted there, it's moved or canceled in Skidle, and a shift added there is added to Skidle.
  • Not synced: Shifts aren't shared.

Where people check in

  • In the other system: People clock in and out there. Their timecards show in Skidle, and Skidle's check-in button is hidden.
  • In Skidle, sent to the other system: People check in and out with Skidle, and each one is sent there as a timecard.
  • Not synced: Check-ins aren't shared.

Either way, a shift or check-in from another system is the same as one made in Skidle. It starts the same workflows.

Opening hours

Turn on Use business hours to get each location's weekly hours from the other system every day. Holidays and other special dates stay as you set them in Skidle.

Square

Square syncs all of the above, in either direction:

  • Shifts: Square scheduled shifts. Only published shifts are synced.
  • Check-ins: Square timecards, with breaks. Breaks sent from Skidle are matched to Square's break types by name. Each timecard uses the person's pay rate in Square, and Skidle never stores it.
  • Opening hours: Each Square location's business hours.

Some limits come from Square:

  • Square doesn't email anyone about shifts Skidle sends.
  • Open shifts stay in Skidle.
  • Square's free plan only accepts shifts up to 10 days ahead. Shifts further out are turned down and listed in the integration's Activity.
  • To send shifts and timecards, Skidle needs permission to make changes in Square. If you connected Square before this option existed, reconnect it once.
