What Create a task does
Create a task creates a task from one of your account's templates, then moves on right away. It's how something outside Skidle turns into work. For example, when a booking system says room 341 is free, a cleaning task appears.
You create templates in Task Manager. Click New task, then choose Template under Shows.
Set it up
- Template: The template to create the task from.
- Fill in: One box for each
{{name}}in the template's title and note. Type the value, or click Insert value to use one from the run, likedata.request.body.roomfrom a web request. - Show it after: How long after the step runs the task appears, like
30m,2h, or1d. Leave it empty to show the task right away. If the task is due some time after it appears, that time starts counting when it appears. - For: Who the task is for, instead of who the template says. If you don't choose anyone, it uses the template's setting.
- Only once for: Something that identifies this task, like a booking number. If the same value comes in again, the step finds the task it already created instead of creating another one. You can also use the same value to find the task later to cancel it.
After it runs
The step saves data.<step id>.taskId, data.<step id>.title, and data.<step id>.created, which is false if the task already existed for that Only once for value.
The step fails, and the run moves on, if the template was deleted, if a {{name}} has no value to fill it in, or if the template's form no longer exists. To do something in that case, add a When way out with data.<step id>.ok = false.
