Workflow Step: Send a Notification
Send a notification in the app to everyone in one or more identities, from a workflow.
What Send a notification does
Send a notification sends a message to everyone in one or more identities, like "The delivery is at the back door" or "Order 12 is ready," then moves on right away. It appears under the bell in the app, like any other notification.
Skidle works out who's in each identity when the step runs, the same way the Dashboard decides who sees a task. People who have left, or who are hidden from assignments, are never notified.
Set it up
- To: One or more identities, like a person, a role, a location, Everyone, or any identity created in People under Identities. Everyone in any of them is notified.
- Except: Optional. No one in these identities is notified, even if they're in one of the identities above.
- Kind: The type of notification. People who turned off that type in their notification settings aren't notified.
- Title: What the notification says. Values from the run go in
{{ }}, likeOrder {{ data.values.id }} is ready. - Message: Optional. More detail under the title.
- Link: Optional. A page in the app to open when someone clicks the notification, starting with
/app/. Links to other websites aren't allowed.
After it's sent
The step saves data.<step id>.matched (how many people were in those identities) and data.<step id>.sent (how many were notified, which is fewer if someone turned off that type or hasn't signed in yet). Add an Otherwise way out to continue, or leave it without one to end the run there.
The step is marked as failed, and the run moves on, if no identity is chosen, the title ends up empty, or the link isn't a page in the app. To do something in that case, add a When way out with data.<step id>.ok = false.
