What Set a value does
Set a value saves something on the run, like a flag, a note, or a counter, so a later step can use it. No one sees this happen.
Set it up
- Field name: What to call it, like
escalated. Later steps use it asdata.escalated. - How:
- Set it to: Saves a value. Type it, or click Insert value to copy one from the run.
- Add to it: Adds an amount (1, unless you choose another number) to a number that's already there. A field that doesn't exist yet counts as 0, so you can use this as a counter.
- Clear it: Removes the field.
Example
To count how many times a run has gone through a retry loop, add a Set a value step with Field name set to attempts, How set to Add to it, and Amount set to 1. A later Route step can stop the loop with the condition data.attempts >= 3.
